Harvard Graduate School of Design Executive Education Announces New Programs for Commercial Real Estate Developers, Owners, and Financiers

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) April 1, 2010 -- This spring and summer, topics of interest to commercial real estate professionals including finance fundamentals, leadership survival skills, finding the right Chinese investor, and retail development are covered in a new series of executive education programs from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

Designed specifically for commercial real estate developers, owners, financiers, and building industry professionals, these programs will enable participants to gain new skills and network with peers from the global real estate community.

Strategies for Winning Chinese Real Estate Investors: What Developers, Owners, Fund Managers, and Professionals Need to Know (http://execed.gsd.harvard.edu/professional/exec_ed/programs/china/index.html)

Program participants will learn how to find, approach, and close a deal with a Chinese real estate investor. Created in collaboration with Peking University's Center for Real Estate Law, this new two-day program will provide participants with the tools and understanding that real estate professionals need in order to secure Chinese financing and investment.

Developed in collaboration with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP), this program will enable participants to deepen their understanding of and gain new insights into their role as a leader in the real estate industry.

This program will present critical real estate finance and development principles and practices in a simple, understandable, and interactive manner that will demystify the real estate financing and development process, regardless of participants' prior real estate experience. Instructors will focus on the application of nuts and bolts real estate finance fundamentals to develop varied real estate asset types and/or acquire both performing and distressed assets.

This two-day program will demonstrate how proven principles of retail development can be combined with the best practices of New Urbanism, Smart Growth, and architectural design to create successful and competitive mixed-use urban commercial centers. The program focuses on the actual nuts and bolts of how to program, plan, and develop sustainable retail in historic downtowns, underperforming shopping centers, and new ground-up developments
