Tour of Remodeled Homes - Three Unique Homes
Builder's Bungalow - 3050 Charter Oaks Road; Edgewood, Kentucky 41017
What better way to see a builder's work than by seeing their own home? John and Krystal Kreutzjans, owners of J.Kreutzjans Remodeling and Building, transformed their 19th century farmhouse into a craftsman style bungalow. Renovations to the Edgewood home include a new master suite, a first-floor laundry room, and the conversion of the garage into a great room. Environmentally-conscious, the Kreutzjans incorporated many green building elements in their remodel. The master bath uses natural river rock rather than tile, and a claw-foot tub was salvaged from another house and reglazed. The fireplace mantle is constructed out of recycled wood from the Kreutzjan's old garage.
Space Discoveries - 122 Park Road, Fort Mitchell, Kentucky 41011
When increasing home size is not an option, remodeling often becomes about the innovative use of space. That was the challenge faced by Grosser and Company Remodeling with this 80 year old home in Fort Mitchell. The home was plagued by poor space design as well as outdated décor and appliances. Grosser turned an unused passageway into a new powder room, and transformed a forgotten back stairway into a new pantry. 1960s furnishings were replaced with limestone floor tile, quartz countertops and a glass-paneled china cabinet. The result is a thoroughly modernized, space-efficient home.
Holly's New Kitchen - 3440 Custer Avenue, Hyde Park, Ohio 45208
While this Hyde Park home had undergone several past renovations, the owners wanted a more contemporary style. Bill's Remodeling and Electric reallocated space and updated the kitchen. The dining room was converted into a family room, and a portion of one of the kitchen walls was removed to allow for more kitchen space and a view of the backyard. The kitchen was finished with granite countertops, new cabinetry and an eco-friendly cork floor. In the master bath, the whirlpool tub was replaced with a sleek glass shower, and dual sinks complete the renovation.
