New Covenant to Care for Children Executive Director Invited to White House
(PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- Caryl Hallberg relocated from California to Connecticut in September 2007, becoming CEO of Covenant to Care for Children, a 22 year old state-wide nonprofit that mobilizes and channels the generosity of caring and faithful people to advocate for, mentor and provide direct services to the neglected, abused and at-risk children and youth of Connecticut. Connecticut is well known for being the wealthiest state in the union but few realize it has the four poorest cities in the USA.
"The challenges are huge, working with thousands of volunteers last year we served over 25,000 children, even so we are just scratching the surface of the need," stated Hallberg.
Towards the end of January 2008, Hallberg, representing Covenant to Care for Children, was one of a handful of providers from across the USA invited to participate in a round table discussion at the Whitehouse. Jim Hein, Director of the Whitehouse Faith-based and Community Initiatives hosted the event focused on the Mentoring Children of Prisoners program of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration of Children and Families.
"It is a great honor as the new Executive Director to represent Covenant to Care for Children; in this instance, for the mentoring work they have been doing successfully and to such high standards for so many years."
Covenant to Care for Children works with over 240 faith-based organizations throughout Connecticut, mobilizing thousands volunteers. The collective strength of these volunteers served 25,000 of Connecticut's children in 2007. Much of the work done through the four CCC programs is preventative, helping families stay untied or helping to permanently reunite families. As a nonprofit, Covenant to Care for Children, depends on the support of individual and corporate donations. To donate, volunteer or learn more visit www.covenanttocare.org
