The Walk to Defeat ALS Finds Valued Partner in Local Advertising Agency

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- The ALS Association Florida Chapter today presented an award of recognition to Tampa-based Dunn&Co. for the company's participation in the Greater Tampa Bay Area Walk to Defeat ALS?, held April 12, 2008 at Bright House Networks Field. Dunn&Co.'s team was represented by eleven employees and friends, who together raised nearly $3,000 to benefit The ALS Association.

"Through their generosity, we will care for local ALS patients and fund global cutting-edge research to find a cause and cure for this fatal disease."

"We became involved in the Walk to Defeat ALS? through the invitation of a client, and the father of one of our walkers suffers from ALS, which made it all the more personal," said Dunn&Co. President Troy Dunn. "We are proud to help such a worthwhile cause and be active in the local ALS Association chapter."

The Walk to Defeat ALS? is The ALS Association's national signature event. Each year, more than 100,000 people including ALS patients, families, friends and corporate leaders join together to raise funds in support of The Association's cutting-edge research and community-based patient services programs. In its ninth year, The Walk to Defeat ALS? now comprises 150 Walks nationally. This year's Greater Tampa Bay Area Walk to Defeat ALS? raised close to $135,000.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's disease," is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks both upper and lower motor neurons and causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord, resulting in muscle weakness and atrophy. There is no known cause or cure for ALS.

Adkins added, "Because of businesses like Dunn&Co. that give back to the community, we can have hope there will one day be a cure for ALS."
